Brief Class Update
Starting this week I will be be piloting a new math program for the next three weeks. Our district is in the process of adopting a new text for the district and we have narrowed it down to two different companies...Houghton Mifflin and Scott Foresman. Doug Kyle, Nancy Cooper and I will be part of the selection committee. Your feedback is welcome, along with the students too. We will be using Houghton Mifflin first. These next three weeks we will be covering many of the standards not covered thus far in Saxon. This week we will be working with negative numbers. At this point, they have not delivered textbooks, which means I will have to make copies.

On Tuesday we will be leaving at 8:15 a.m. to the San Juan Bautista Mission. This will culminate our study of the missions and their impact on California. The field trip will be a fun learning experience because there will be a Scavenger Hunt.

Please remember that our Pizza Book Report is due this coming Friday, February 8th.

I wanted to take the time to thank Michelle Moyer, Emma's mom, for teaching a wonderful Watercolor Art lesson on animals from the sea. The students' work was simply fantastic. The finished projects will be on display at Open House in a couple of months.

Students have one more month to bring up their grades in Accelerated Reader. I will be posting the grading scale on the blog this week. That's all f
