WEEK 21
WEEKLY QUOTE
“Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.” Anonymous
Into each life some rain must fall, some days must be dark and dreary.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (the most popular American Poet in the 19th century, 1807-1882)
WEEKLY RIDDLE
What is round on the ends and high in the middle?
Class News
This week our class will be learning about how Mexico won their freedom from Spanish rule in the early 1820s and what effect this had on the missions. The land grants and disenos will also be an area of study in social studies. In fact, the class will pretend they are living in the early 1800s hoping to procure a choice piece of land. They will go through the process of writing a land grant to the mexican leaders with an accompanying colorful map of their desired location (diseno).
In reading we will be going through a new story entitled Cendrillion. This story is similar to the Cinderella fairy tale with a few different twists and turns from a different perspective.
Our class is also in the process of finishing "Our Dreams" essay. The class will finish typing them on Friday during computer time.
Finally, the field trip to the UCSC Life Lab has been changed to Friday, February 22nd. I'll send home new permission slips and I will ask for drivers again.
Please remember to contact me if you have any questions, or are interested in your child's progress in class.
Have a wonderful week...we sure will!
