WEEK 10
WEEKLY QUOTE
"One does not sell the land people walk on." ...
Crazy Horse, Sept. 23, 1875
"Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."
Native American Proverb
WEEKLY RIDDLE
I start with the letter e, I end with the letter e. I contain one letter, Yet I am not the letter e! What am I?
CLASS UPDATE
This week we will have short days all week long. I look forward to meeting each of you at our scheduled conference time. Please refer to Week 8 if you forgot your time. Please arrive on time because it affects everybody who comes afterwards. This can be a problem for parents who are scheduled in other conferences.
This week we will have a small amount of homework each night. Each night we will read and finish our math lesson. The rest of the time students should be working on their World War II projects. These projects are due NEXT MONDAY. We will be going over a speech outline this week in preparation for our speeches next week.
This week we will continue our study of Native Americans in Social Studies. Last week our class designed their own creative pictographs similar to the Chumash cave paintings found in Santa Barbara.
Finally, our class is in the process of writing articles for class newspapers. Each student is writing their own news article for their group's newspaper. In addition, each newspaper has an editor who will edit the other articles and help their group meet the deadline. This will be a fun process culminating with our field trip to the Register Pajaronian in a couple of weeks.
HOMEWORK MONDAY - THURSDAY
Reading - Read each night
Math - Finish Lessons at home
WWII Projects (DUE NEXT MONDAY)-first...finish report....second-creative project....third-illustration....fourth....speech. (We will be learning how to write a speech outline this week)
