WEEK 19
Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe that our first half of the school year is coming to a close. I feel truly blessed to have such an amazing class with such caring, supportive and involved parents. I hope everybody has a safe and joyous holiday.Here are a few reminders of upcoming projects, field trips and events:
- Pizza Reports will be due on Wednesday. Each child will give an informal speech sharing their project.
- There will be no tests this week!
- I am teaching the class the history and origins of Christmas this week. Furthermore, We are also learning about the Soltice, Yule, Saturnalia and other pagan celebrations at this time of the year. Finally, our class is also learning about Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.
- The white elephant exchange will be on Wednesday so PLEASE remember to help your child pick out a present to play in the game.
- Thank you to the parents who are bringing pizza, food and drinks to our party.
- Our next field trip in 5th Grade will be on Friday, January 26th, when we go to the Weather Station in Monterey followed by Dennis the Menace park and lunch. PLEASE e-mail me if you are able to drive on this trip.
- The 4th grade students will be heading to the San Juan Bautista Mission on Monday, January 29th. PLEASE e-mail me if you are able to drive on this field trip.
- I sent home the Endangered Species Project for the 4th Graders. This project will be due on Monday, January 29th, as well. 5th grade students may do this project for extra-credit.
- Please practice the times table with your child. There are several students in this class who have not mastered this skill. My goal for each student is automaticity in giving the answer.

P.S. Our band was excited to celebrate the holidays with the parents who came to hear us, The Wild Rovers, at Britannia Arms. I hope we didn't damage your hearing too badly ;> )
