Week 12 - HALLOWEEN TIME!

This is an exciting week for the students at Rio Del Mar. It is certainly the craziest day of the year in class and throughout the school. Please try to make it to our annual school parade on the intermediate playground from 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. Our class will be marching around with our reading buddies. Rumor has it that there are some outrageous costumes this year... Our class party will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. You are invited to come by and celebrate with us. Thank you to the parents who are helping make this a special party.

Learning Update
Our 4th and 5th grade students are continuing to learn about the early explorers. Our next test in Social Studies will be on Thursday, November 9th.
Science - We will be starting our new unit on plant adaptations and processes next week.
Writing - This week we are learning to write an accurate bibliography siting sources from newspapers, magazines, Internet sites, books and encyclopedias. This will prepare us for our 4th grade World War II projects and 5th grade American Historical Hero Projects
Reading - This week 4th grade will be reading a story of multiple cultures and their process of becoming American Citizens. (The legal method!). 5th grade students will continue Crispin and learn about the middle ages in England. Friday, November 3rd will be the last day to take reading quizzes for Reading Counts.
